Olimpija Rīga
Latvian club active 1992–1995, won 1994 cup.
Olimpija Rīga was a Latvian football club from Riga that played in the Latvian Higher League between 1992 and 1995. The club was founded in 1992 under the name Kompar-Daugava, combining the sponsor's name with that of the former FK Daugava. In its debut season, Kompar-Daugava finished fifth in the league, with Jurijs Hudjakovs as the club's top scorer and Dzintars Sproģis named the league's best defender. That same year, the team reached the Latvian Football Cup final, losing 1–0 in extra time to Skonto FC.
In 1993, the club was renamed Olimpija Rīga after the Riga Olimpija bank, which provided its funding. The new financial backing gave the club one of the strongest squads in Latvia, and Olimpija finished as league runners-up to Skonto FC. Goalkeeper Ēriks Grigjans and midfielder Andrejs Štolcers were each named the best in their positions in the league. For the 1994 season, the club added Latvia national team goalkeeper Oļegs Karavajevs. Olimpija finished fourth in the league but won the Latvian Football Cup, defeating Dag Rīga 2–0 in the final.
In 1995, most of the club's best players left as the sponsoring bank neared bankruptcy. Olimpija finished ninth out of ten teams in the league and disbanded after the season. Over its brief existence, the club was managed by several notable Latvian football managers, including Jānis Skredelis, Aleksandrs Starkovs, and Vladimirs Žuks.
