Outline

The team was established in April 2001 as FC Central Chūgoku. Although registered in Shimane Prefecture, its office and training grounds were originally located in what is now Kitahiroshima, Yamagata district, Hiroshima prefecture. In 2008 the club changed its name to Dezzolla Shimane Esporte Clube and began shifting its base to Hamada city and surrounding areas, a move completed in 2012. The name is a corrupted portmanteau of the Portuguese words 'Deus' (God) and 'Olá' (hello), while 'Esporte Clube' is Portuguese for 'Sport Club'. As FC Central Chūgoku, home games were mainly at Hamada City Track and Field Ground and Sun Village Hamada. Under the Dezzolla Shimane name, the club also played at Matsue Athletic Stadium, Misumi Central Park Track and Field Ground, Hamayama Park Track and Field Ground, and Shimane Prefectural Soccer Park to strengthen its prefecture-wide identity. In 2010 Matsue City FC (then Volador Matsue) were promoted to the Chūgoku League and subsequently used Matsue Athletic Stadium for home games. For the 2012 season, Dezzolla Shimane's home games were held only at Hamada City Track and Field Ground and Shimane Prefectural Soccer Park. The team made its Emperor's Cup debut in 2004, defeating Iwami F.C. to qualify, then beating Shizuoka F.C. on penalties in the second round before an 8–0 loss to Honda F.C. in the third round. Dezzolla Shimane had consecutive Emperor's Cup nominations until 2009, when Hamada F.C. Cosmos took the spot. In 2011 the club won its first Chūgoku League title, the first by a Shimane Prefecture team, and qualified for the Regional League promotion series but was eliminated in the first round.
