Jung Hyung-don, born March 15, 1978, is a South Korean comedian and television host. He is best known for his roles on the variety shows Infinite Challenge and Weekly Idol.
Before entering entertainment, he worked at Samsung Electronics in Suwon for six years after graduating from Busan Electronic Technical High School. He made his television debut in 2002 on Gag Concert with the sketch "Do-Re-Mi Trio." Over the years, he became a central figure on several hit shows, faced public backlash over a marriage simulation pairing, and took two breaks from activities due to anxiety disorder. In 2021, he co-founded the Matched Project agency.
Career
Jung Hyung-don first appeared on television in 2002 as part of the sketch comedy program Gag Concert. There, he performed in a segment called "Do-Re-Mi Trio," where he and two other comedians would sing bits of well-known songs before delivering a comedic punchline. In 2005, he became a cast member on the variety show Infinite Challenge, which struggled with low ratings at first but later became extremely popular. Several songs Jung recorded for the show's special song festivals reached the top ten on South Korea's music charts.
In 2008, he joined the first season of the marriage simulation show We Got Married. He was initially paired with TV personality Saori, but after she left, he was matched with Girls' Generation singer Taeyeon. This pairing sparked strong backlash from fans, largely because of the 11-year age difference. In 2011, Jung began co-hosting the idol-focused reality show Weekly Idol alongside rapper Defconn.
In November 2015, his agency FNC Entertainment announced he was stepping away from all activities due to an anxiety disorder. At that time, he was appearing on several shows, including Infinite Challenge, Weekly Idol, and Please Take Care of My Refrigerator. He officially left Infinite Challenge in July 2016. Jung returned as co-host of Weekly Idol in October 2016, ending an 11-month hiatus.
In March 2018, both he and Defconn left Weekly Idol, and in May they started hosting the variety show Idol Room. On November 5, 2020, FNC Entertainment announced that Jung would take another break from all activities because his anxiety disorder had relapsed. In October 2021, he chose not to renew his contract with FNC. On November 15, 2021, Jung founded the Matched Project agency with Kim Yong-man, Kim Sung-joo, and Ahn Jung-hwan.
