Reader's Guide

The conflict between Florida and Dallas is less about territorial borders and more about shared identity during the NHL's growth phase. Key incidents that fueled competitive fire included intense regular-season battles throughout the 1990s when both teams were building their foundational rosters. Divisional realignments often separated them into different conferences, limiting playoff frequency but heightening anticipation for inter-conference matchups. These games defined the Panthers' competitive spirit by forcing them to prove themselves against a Cup-winning franchise from the same expansion wave.
