Back in Rio, his impact on Flamengo was equally profound. He lifted the Rio State Championship trophy four times (1953, 1954, 1955, 1963) and captured the Rio-São Paulo Tournament in 1961. Earlier in his career, he also secured the Alagoas State Championship with CSA in 1949 and 1952. His journey concluded on 17 September 2002 when he died of cancer at age 68, leaving behind a legacy as a two-decade mentor to Flamengo's youth.
