Did You Know?

• Most episodes were filmed on location in Southern California, including Union Station, Ontario International Airport, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
• A spin-off called Rockin' Real Wheels features songs about vehicles and includes four episodes.
• All episodes except Here Comes a Roller Coaster and There Goes Santa Claus were re-released on DVD.

Premise

At the start of each episode, Dave and usually Becky introduce themselves by job titles, explaining they are not real workers but have permission to pretend for a day. They discuss how the vehicles work, their purposes and history, and talk to people in the field. Comedic segments include antics between the hosts, Dave making mistakes and saying his catchphrase, "I shouldn't have done that!" The episode ends with the hosts encouraging the audience to visit a library or related location to learn more, and sometimes safety advice is given.

Other media

The Real Wheels series released DVDs typically containing three episodes each, plus a blooper reel, interactive glossary, and other features. These DVDs are often titled "Adventures" with a theme linking the episodes. A live tour called "Real Wheels Live" ran from 2001 to 2004, starring Dave Hood performing magic tricks and audience participation stunts, with vehicles on display before the show.
