Making and release

Jan Rechberger and Esa Holopainen decided to form their own death metal band after their previous band Violent Solution dissolved.[3] After recording their first studio demo, Relapse Records offered a recording contract to the band Abhorrence.[4] They released their debut album, The Karelian Isthmus, under the new name Amorphis.[4] The third album, Elegy, was released in 1996 with lyrics adapted from the Kanteletar collection of folk poetry.[5]

Amorphis released their 14th studio album, Halo, on 24 February 2022, marking the band's 30th anniversary.[6] Because Abhorrence had ceased to exist, the members mailed their own demo tape and secured a contract covering the entire world.[4] The 1994 album Tales from the Thousand Lakes, a concept record inspired by the Kalevala, was issued by Amorphis.[4] By blending death metal with folk, psychedelic, and progressive styles, that record attracted a following for the band.[7]

What the cited sources add

A Blabbermouth.net article from 8 September 2008 stated that Amorphis would enter Sonic Pump Studios in November to record the follow-up to Eclipse and Silent Waters.[8] The same article noted that both Eclipse and Silent Waters had been certified gold in Finland.[8] A 2010 Blabbermouth.net article reported that Amorphis would release their first-ever live DVD, Forging The Land Of Thousand Lakes, on June 25 in Europe.[9] That article also stated the main concert was filmed on November 20, 2009 at Club Teatria in Oulu, Finland.[9]

A NOIZR.COM article from 22 February 2018 announced that Amorphis had finished recording their 13th album, Queen Of Time.[10]
