Wendy (film)

Plot

Years earlier, their cousin Thomas Marshall disappeared after storming out of his birthday party upon learning what his adult future would be, lured onto a train by a hooded childlike figure as toddler Wendy watched. One night, the three children see a boy riding atop a passing train and climb out to join him. Peter takes them to a tropical island with an active volcano he calls Mother. The island is home to other children, including Thomas, who has not aged in over seven years. Peter explains that Mother's spirit in the volcano prevents aging as long as the children believe in her. They later discover a large glowing fish, another form of Mother. Wendy secretly finds a dated photograph of a deceased islander family that includes Peter, leading her to conclude Mother saved him from a natural disaster and shared her powers, making him ageless. While exploring a capsized boat called the Mañana, Douglas injures his head and disappears. James, missing his twin, withdraws emotionally and his right hand begins aging. He asks Peter to cut it off, which Peter does. Shocked, Wendy takes James away and is helped by Buzzo, a former group member who aged after losing faith when his best friend died. Buzzo brings them to a settlement of Olds—children who lost faith and aged normally. James, bitter, rallies the Olds to kill and eat Mother's fish form to regain youth. The Olds kidnap the children as bait and repurpose the Mañana as a fishing boat.
