Descendants: Wicked Wonderland

Sequel to Descendants: The Rise of Red, fifth in series.

Descendants: Wicked Wonderland

Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, a 2026 American musical teen fantasy comedy, was directed by Kimmy Gatewood. The screenplay came from Tamara Chestna, Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer. As a Disney Channel production, this movie follows Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024) and marks the fifth entry in the Descendants series. Its television debut happened on Disney Channel on July 16, 2026, with a Disney+ release the next day.

The story picks up after Red and Chloe’s time-travel adventure. They stash Maddox Hatter’s magic pocket watch in Wonderland’s hidden royal vault. The next day, they see how their lives have shifted: Bridget, the Queen of Hearts, is now kind, and Cinderella is safe. But the timeline changes bring new problems. Red gains a younger sister named Pink, while Max Hatter—once Red’s childhood friend—is now a villain kid (VK). Chloe struggles to reconcile the younger Cinderella she met in the past with the older, more cynical version in the present.

A young Maddox witnessed Red and Chloe using the watch to return home, sparking his obsession with finding it. This obsession led him down a dark path, forcing Bridget to banish him and Max to the Isle of the Lost, where he went mad and became a villain. After the Isle’s barrier fell, Maddox returned to Wonderland, still hunting the watch with help from Chessy, the Cheshire Cat’s daughter. He plans revenge on Bridget for imprisoning him. Discovering the watch is in the vault, he captures Bridget, who sends a magical distress signal to Red. Using Bridget’s cards, Maddox seizes control of Wonderland and searches for the vault.

Red and Chloe head back to Wonderland to rescue Bridget, joined by Pink, Max, Luis Madrigal’s son Luis, Robin Hood’s son Robbie, Captain Hook’s daughter Hazel, Dr. Facilier’s son Felix, and Mr. Smee’s twin sons Squeaky and Squirmy. Maddox detects them and forces them through magical challenges: corrupted flamingoes and an enchanted chess game. During the chess game, Red uses Chloe as bait for a carnivorous flower to win, deeply hurting their friendship. Chessy stirs arguments among the group. Red bonds with Luis, but her relationships with Chloe and Pink grow tense. Meanwhile, Cinderella learns of the teens’ departure and sneaks into the Wonderland palace using a magic mirror from Bridget, but Maddox captures her too.

Lore & Background

The film follows Red and Chloe shortly after their time-travel adventure. They hide Maddox Hatter's magic pocket watch in Wonderland's hidden royal vault. The next day, they discover that altering the timeline has changed their lives: Red now has a younger sister named Pink, and Maddox's son Max is a VK. Chloe struggles with the differing views of the younger and older Cinderella. A young Maddox witnessed Red and Chloe using the watch and became obsessed, leading to his banishment to the Isle of the Lost with Max. After the Isle's barrier was removed, Maddox returns to Wonderland, seeking revenge on Bridget, the Queen of Hearts, with the help of Chessy, the Cheshire Cat's daughter. He captures Bridget and uses her magical cards to seize control of Wonderland. Red and Chloe return to Wonderland with a group of friends to rescue Bridget. They face magical challenges, including corrupted flamingoes and an enchanted chess game. During the chess game, Red uses Chloe as bait for a carnivorous flower, damaging their friendship. Max learns the truth about how Red and Chloe changed the timeline, robbing the Hatters of their original lives, and vows revenge. He creates a magic bracelet that turns Chloe evil. Red reconciles with Pink and talks Chloe down, removing the bracelet. The group captures Maddox, and Red apologizes to him. In the final scene, Pink finds a strange glowing object, and Chessy warns the story is not over.
