Little (film)

**Little** is a 2019 American fantasy comedy directed and co-written by Tina Gordon. The film stars Regina Hall, Issa Rae, and Marsai Martin, and centers on a demanding boss who magically turns into her younger self. Marsai Martin, who was 14 at the time of production, served as an executive producer—the youngest person ever to hold that role on a Hollywood film.

The story follows Jordan Sanders, a tech-company CEO who bullied others as a teen and now runs her business harshly. After she mistreats a child with a toy magic wand, the child wishes Jordan were a kid again. The next morning, Jordan wakes up as her 13-year-old self. Her assistant, April Williams, temporarily takes over the company, and Jordan must return to the school where she was once bullied, with April posing as her aunt. At school, Jordan meets a teacher she develops a crush on, befriends three outcasts, and bonds with April over dinner. Meanwhile, a major client threatens to leave unless the company pitches a strong app idea. April presents an idea Jordan had previously blocked, leading to a fight and April quitting. After realizing her mistakes, Jordan helps her new friends perform at a pep rally, earning applause. April finds the child with the wand and asks to reverse the spell, but it seems not to work. Jordan, changed inside, vows to be a better friend. She wakes up as an adult, returns to work with a positive attitude, and April’s pitch wins a huge client. Jordan throws a party and promotes April to Creative Executive.

The cast includes Regina Hall as adult Jordan, Marsai Martin as young Jordan, Issa Rae as April, Tone Bell, Mikey Day, JD McCrary, Thalia Tran, Tucker Meek, Luke James, Rachel Dratch, Marc Hawes, Justin Hartley, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Palmer Williams Jr.

Marsai Martin, a star of *Black-ish*, brought the idea to the show’s creator, Kenya Barris, in 2014 when she was ten, inspired by the film *Big* (1988). She served as executive producer on *Little*, making her the youngest person to hold that title on a major Hollywood production. Issa Rae joined the project on May 2, 2018, and Regina Hall, already attached as an executive producer, joined later that month. Principal photography took place from June through August 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia.
