The film follows Raj, a small-town lawyer who moves to Mumbai to make it big. He marries Tejpal's younger daughter, Sonam, through guile, but she insists they live independently. Raj then takes on a case for underworld don Kalra, winning acquittal for Kalra's brother and building a career defending criminals. Seven years later, Raj is rich and successful, but his dishonesty leads Sonam to leave him, taking their seven-year-old son. The son prays that his parents not divorce and that Raj stop lying, and this wish miraculously comes true, making Raj unable to lie at all.
