Plot
In Swellview, scientists at Evil Science Corp manufacture a reality altering device (R.A.D.). During transport, guards fail to notice a Kid Danger toy in a window. An infiltrator disguised as Kid Danger—Missy Martin, a devoted fan—steals the device, evading guards and escaping to her home. She plans to use the R.A.D. to bring Kid Danger back to life, unaware that Henry Hart, the real Kid Danger, faked his death and moved to Dystopia to fight crime with Jasper Dunlop. In Dystopia, Piper Hart and Schwoz Schwartz visit Henry after Charlotte Page's departure for Harvard. Jasper warns of an attack by supervillain Blackout, who seeks plutonium to destroy Dystopia's nuclear core. Henry abandons a public event to intervene; Schwoz hacks surveillance, and Jasper fights Blackout in an alley. Henry defeats Blackout publicly, but a dispute with Jasper over recognition strains their friendship. Missy activates the R.A.D., bringing her fan-fiction to life and transporting Henry into her room, where he wears an upgraded suit. She confesses she wants him to fight crime in Newtown after a traumatic mugging. Henry admits he faked his death to start fresh, declining her plea to team up.
Production
In May 2017, the president of Viacom's Nickelodeon group announced a film based on Henry Danger was being developed. In January 2022, Jace Norman returned to Nickelodeon with a deal to produce and star in original content, including reprising his role as Henry Hart in a Henry Danger movie. Principal photography took place from March 11 to April 18, 2024 in Vancouver and Richmond, British Columbia.
Reception
The film received mostly positive critical reviews. Nick Williams of Feature First gave it a 4-out-of-5-star rating, calling it a good continuation of the franchise. Fernanda Camargo of Common Sense Media rated it 3 out of 5 stars, stating it is satisfying for fans and a fair introduction for new viewers. Paul Asay of Plugged In described the film as both clever and crass, noting the latter may be a deal-killer for those unfamiliar with the original show. The film drew nearly 140,000 viewers on its aired premiere day.
