Plot
In the world of Fairytopia, a flower fairy named Elina lives with her puffball companion, Bibble. Unlike the other fairies around her, Elina has no wings, a difference that often draws mockery from others. The realm is ruled by the kind Enchantress, but her evil twin sister, Laverna, has already kidnapped one of Fairytopia's seven guardians, Topaz. Laverna admits she poisoned the Enchantress and intends to seize all the guardians. Her minions spread a mist-like formula across Fairytopia that weakens any creature with wings.
Elina and Bibble wake to find her flower home, Peony, and the meadow fairies sick from Laverna's formula. Along with their friend Dandelion, they go to the nearest guardian, Azura, for help. In a forest, Dandelion breathes in some of the formula and loses the ability to fly, forcing her to return home. When Elina and Bibble are turned away from Azura's home, they sneak inside and are discovered by the guardian herself. Noticing a rainbow in Elina's eye, Azura invites them in and explains it means Elina is destined for great things. Azura tells them Laverna threatens all of Fairytopia and plans to visit a dryad named Dahlia, a former follower of Laverna, the next morning. Before leaving, Azura asks Elina to guard her magic necklace.
The next morning, as Azura prepares to depart, she is kidnapped by a Fungus, one of Laverna's henchmen. Elina wakes to find herself blamed for Azura's disappearance but is rescued by a giant butterfly named Hue. In Laverna's lair, the Fungi bring Azura, but Laverna is furious to discover the necklace is missing. The Fungi report that a wingless fairy has it. Realizing that a fairy without wings would be immune to her formula, Laverna orders the Fungi to find Elina.
Hue and Elina flee from Laverna's firebirds. They escape with help from a merman prince named Nalu, who gives them seaweed that lets them breathe underwater. When they finally reach Dahlia's home, she is hesitant to help because the other guardians distrust her. Elina persuades her to do the right thing. Dahlia then reveals that Laverna has discovered how to drain the powers from the guardians' necklaces and take them for herself, and that the "union point" is the weakness in her plan.
