Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders
Aliens, gold, and a mystery in the desert.
Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders, a 2000 direct-to-video animated film, blends sci-fi, romance, comedy, and mystery. It is the third such film based on the classic Saturday morning cartoon, produced by Warner Bros. Animation with Hanna-Barbera. This lighter-toned mystery, despite a grimmer atmosphere, was the last franchise entry to use hand-drawn cel animation and the final film to feature Mary Kay Bergman as Daphne.

Plot
While driving through a desert sandstorm, Shaggy accidentally drives onto government property, and a UFO sighting causes him to crash near a small town. Shaggy and Scooby stay with the van while the others head into town for help. Soon the pair encounter aliens who chase them into town. At a diner, waitress Dottie says locals have seen strange lights and heard strange sounds at night, and chef Sergio reports cattle have vanished.
A patron named Lester claims to have pictures of aliens, but the gang finds he made paintings. He offers them lodging. While sleeping on the roof, Shaggy and Scooby are abducted by the aliens, then awakened in the desert by photographer Crystal and her dog Amber. Crystal says she is an undercover government agent investigating alien activity.
Shaggy takes her to the caves where he first saw aliens; they find gold deposits but are chased by aliens and military police. Meanwhile, the rest of Mystery Inc. meet mechanic Buck and Max of SALF (Search for Alien Lifeforms). Velma grows suspicious after seeing dried mud on the SALF team's boots. She leads her friends to a canyon, where they find a dry riverbed, mining equipment, and gold in caves.
The aliens capture Velma, Fred, and Daphne. The aliens then reveal themselves as the SALF team, who discovered the cave is part of a 19th-century gold mine on government property and concocted alien disguises to keep others away, hiring men to impersonate MPs.
