Mosaic (film)
A 2007 direct-to-DVD animated superhero film by Stan Lee.
Mosaic is a 2007 American animated superhero film that introduces a character originally created by Stan Lee. It was released as part of the Stan Lee Presents line, a series of direct-to-DVD animated movies distributed by POW! Entertainment in partnership with Anchor Bay Entertainment. The lead role of Maggie Nelson is voiced by Nicole Oliver, with additional voice work from Kirby Morrow, Cam Clarke, Garry Chalk, Ron Halder, and Nicole Oliver.
The story follows Maggie Nelson, a young aspiring actress living in New York City with her father, an Interpol agent. One night, she is accidentally caught between a powerful electrical storm and a magic rune that her father brought home from a museum murder scene. This event grants her chameleon-like abilities, which come from an ancient secret race called the Chameliel, who can hide by shape-shifting. She learns about her powers from a young Chameliel named Mosaic (voiced by Kirby Morrow). The museum murder victim was a Chameliel killed by another Chameliel, Maniken, who is stealing powerful Chameliel stones hidden worldwide to gain the alchemical powers of his dead wife, Facade, and take over the world. When Maniken kidnaps Maggie’s father, she teams up with Mosaic to stop him.
Their journey takes them from New York City to the catacombs of Rome and finally to a large radio dish at the north magnetic pole. Maniken plans to sacrifice Maggie’s father in a ceremony that would transfer Facade’s powers to him, making him a god. During the ceremony, Maggie uses her shape-shifting and acting skills to impersonate Facade, distracting Maniken while Mosaic plants explosives that destroy the dish and foil the ritual. In the ensuing battle, it is revealed that Mosaic is actually Maniken and Facade’s son, who volunteered to stop his father. Mosaic sacrifices himself by sending both himself and Maniken into an icy gorge. Afterward, Maggie sneaks onto an Interpol helicopter with her rescued father, where she overhears him vowing to destroy all Chameliel. Back home, she agrees to continue her studies but secretly decides to use her powers to find the remaining Chameliel stones for good, honoring Mosaic by becoming the new Mosaic.
The cast includes Nicole Oliver as Maggie Nelson/Mosaic, Kirby Morrow as Morrow (Mosaic), Kathleen Barr as Facade and Mrs. Nottenmyer, Garry Chalk as Nathan Nelson, Cam Clarke as Stephan, Ron Halder as
