Fictional character biography
Citizen Abra is from the 64th century, a time when science has made stage magic obsolete. Desiring a career as a performing magician, he steals a time machine and invents a device to paralyze guards, then travels to the past to find an audience. He clashes with the Flash (Barry Allen), using a hypnotic device that forces people to clap regardless of their thoughts. Despite this, his magic is overlooked, so he involves himself in important events. When the Flash tries to stop a crime, Kadabra forces him to clap and escapes. He later sends the Flash into space, but the Flash returns and defeats him. Kadabra hypnotizes a governor to escape jail and stages a puppet show where the Flash is turned into a puppet, but the Flash reverses the ray and defeats him again. In later confrontations, Kadabra's technology is damaged, leaving him insubstantial and wraith-like. After being restored, he is captured by bounty hunter Peregrine and returned to his century for a death sentence, but the Flash saves him. During the Underworld Unleashed storyline, he forgoes his technological implements and tricks five Rogues into selling their souls to Neron so he can gain genuine magical powers. He later kidnaps Linda Park, girlfriend of Wally West, during their wedding and erases her from history, but is defeated with help from Walter West. In Infinite Crisis, he becomes a member of the Secret Society of Super Villains.
