Amazing Princess Sarah

Amazing Princess Sarah is a 2D platform-adventure game from developer Haruneko. It launched in 2014 on Xbox 360 through the Xbox Live Indie Games channel, Microsoft Windows via Steam and Desura, and Windows Phone 7/8. In June 2015, the game was chosen for Microsoft's ID@Xbox program.

The gameplay centers on 2D platforming with limited combat as the player moves through several castle stages. Throwing certain enemies produces different effects. Each stage includes a boss fight, with some requiring the player to outrun the boss and others involving direct combat. Completing the game unlocks new modes that alter the princess's design, the title screen, and add fresh challenges for subsequent playthroughs.

The story follows Princess Sarah, who sets out to destroy the forces of the demon queen Lilith and rescue her father, the king of Kaleiya, after Lilith seduces and kidnaps him.

The game took ten days to be greenlit on Steam. Alex Carlson of Hardcore Gamer gave the Windows version a 3/5, calling it a "competent, if uninspired indie platformer" that is worth five dollars for fans of old-school titles like Castlevania, but unlikely to convert newcomers to the genre. Crystal Steltenpohl of Diehard GameFan praised the Xbox 360 version for its "mostly fun level design, interesting gameplay, and strong visuals," describing it as a steal at one dollar for fans of Metroidvania games. Rob Hamilton of HonestGamers rated it 8/10, noting that despite imperfections, its low price makes it a great nostalgic trip for childhood gaming memories.
