The story follows Kei Hatō, an orphaned high school student who travels to her late father's house in Hemizuka to settle inheritance issues. On the train, she dreams of a huge tree and a sad woman. In Hemizuka, she learns secrets about her own blood through encounters with an Oni Slayer, a friend of her late mother, a young girl with a white fox, and the mysterious girl from her dreams. The twin oni Nozomi and Mikage antagonize her throughout the game. The story varies based on player decisions, leading to multiple endings, some of which suggest romantic feelings among female characters.
