Anthology series adapting Filipino comic book stories.
Komiks was a fantasy drama anthology series on ABS-CBN that brought Filipino comic book stories to television. It occupied the network’s Saturday evening slot from February 4, 2006, to August 9, 2009, taking over from *My Juan and Only* and later giving way to *Agimat: Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla*. The show drew on popular local comics by writers such as Pablo S. Gomez, Francisco V. Coching, Mars Ravelo, Elena M. Patron, and Jim M. Fernandez.
The first season consisted of 13 separate stories spread across 13 episodes, with one story, *Agua Bendita*, split into two parts. The second season also featured 12 distinct stories but ran for 15 episodes, as three of them—*Inday sa Balitaw*, *Bampy*, and *Si Pardina at mga Duwende*—each had two parts. The third season broke from this anthology format by devoting all episodes to a single series, *Da Adventures of Pedro Penduko*, starring Matt Evans from *Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition 1*. The fourth season continued the trend with a sequel, *Pedro Penduko at ang Mga Engkantao*, featuring an ensemble cast.
After the success of the *Pedro Penduko* installments, *Komiks* returned in 2008 for a sixth season, this time focusing on works by Mars Ravelo. The season opened with *Kapitan Boom*, then continued with *Varga*, *Tiny Tony*, *Dragonna*, and *Flash Bomba*. In 2009, the horror drama *Nasaan Ka Maruja?*, based on a 1950s Mars Ravelo comic, also aired under the *Komiks* banner.
At the 2006 PMPC Star Awards for Television, the show tied with GMA-7’s *Ang Mahiwagang Baul* for Best Horror-Fantasy Program. The following year, *Da Adventures of Pedro Penduko* won the same award.
