Komiks Presents: Tiny Tony
A nerd becomes a tiny superhero after a freak accident.
Komiks Presents: Tiny Tony is a Philippine fantasy drama series from ABS-CBN, based on Mars Ravelo's comic strip of the same name. It serves as the fifth installment of the Komiks anthology. Directed by Dondon S. Santos, the show stars John Prats and ran on Saturday evenings from October 18 to December 13, 2008, replacing Komiks Presents: Varga and later succeeded by Komiks Presents: Dragonna. Years prior, the Ravelo family had commissioned Reno Maniquis to redesign the costumes of Captain Barbell, Flash Bomba, and Tiny Tony for a modern audience.
The plot follows Tony (John Prats), a brilliant science prodigy and nerd with a strong mathematical aptitude who dreams of contributing to society. After a freak accident, he is transformed from a normal person into a tiny superhero. The story asks whether Tony will ever return to his original size or remain Tiny Tony forever.
In the synopsis, Anthony “Tony” Anisoc (John Prats) is raised solely by his mother, Nanay Eden (Susan Africa). His exceptional intelligence earns him a PhD at a young age, and he becomes a laboratory assistant to scientist Dr. Morgan Peralta (Pen Medina). Tony befriends Dr. Morgan’s daughter Michelle (Alex Gonzaga) but is despised by the doctor’s son Joaquin (Coco Martin). When a laboratory accident kills Dr. Morgan, Tony is shrunk to just six inches tall. As he struggles to regain his normal size, he must confront enemies such as the Indian Warrior Red Cloud (Arron Villaflor) and the greedy Joaquin. The series questions whether Tony can escape his troubles, return to his mother and Michelle, and how the scientist Gil Gante (Baron Geisler) is connected to his predicament.
The main cast includes John Prats as Tiny Tony/Anthony “Tony” Anisoc and Alex Gonzaga as Michelle Peralta, Joaquin’s sister and Tony’s love interest. Supporting cast members are Arron Villaflor as Bryan De Jesus/Red Cloud, a tiny Indian warrior; Coco Martin as Joaquin Peralta; Baron Geisler as Gil Gante; Susan Africa as Eden, Tony’s mother; Gerard Acao as Jumbo Madrigal, Tony’s friend and a policeman; and Ama Quiambao as Lola Marge, Jumbo’s grandmother.
