Playing career

Victor Ejdsell started his hockey journey with Vikings HC in Sweden’s lower divisions before moving up to the junior system of Färjestad BK. He went undrafted and made his Swedish Hockey League debut with Färjestad BK in the 2014–15 season. After three years with the club and a desire for a bigger role, he left the SHL on April 29, 2016, signing a one-year contract in the Allsvenskan with BIK Karlskoga. During the 2016–17 season, Ejdsell had a breakout offensive year, leading his team with 57 points in 50 games and placing among the league’s top scorers.

On May 5, 2017, NBC Sports reported that Ejdsell had signed an entry-level contract with the Nashville Predators, after interest from several NHL teams including the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks. Before the deal was officially confirmed, Ejdsell stated his plan to keep developing in Sweden, agreeing to a two-year contract with newly crowned SHL champions HV71 on May 10, 2017. The Predators then announced on May 15, 2017, that he had signed a two-year, entry-level deal. On February 26, 2018, Nashville traded Ejdsell, along with first-round and fourth-round picks in the 2018 NHL entry draft, to the Chicago Blackhawks for Ryan Hartman and a fifth-round pick in 2018.

After the 2017–18 season, in which he led HV71 with 20 goals and 34 points in 50 games, Ejdsell was assigned by the Blackhawks to their AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, on March 21, 2018. He was recalled to the NHL a few days later on March 25, 2018, and made his NHL debut the following day against the San Jose Sharks. He recorded his first NHL assist on March 29, 2018, in a game against the Winnipeg Jets. Ejdsell played six regular-season games with the Blackhawks before being sent back to the IceHogs for their playoff run. In the 2018–19 season, he stayed with Rockford but could not earn another NHL recall, posting 12 goals and 29 points in 61 games. As a pending restricted free agent, he chose to return to Sweden on May 9, 2019, signing a two-year contract with his original club, Färjestad BK. After five seasons there, Ejdsell moved abroad on April 29, 2024, agreeing to a two-year contract with Swiss club SC Bern of the NL.
