Beskydský bundáš
White shepherd dog of the Beskydy, extinct since the 1970s.
The Beskydský bundáš was a white, long-haired shepherd dog from the Beskydy Mountains, used for guarding sheep on mountain meadows. According to legend, it was an excellent shepherd but a poor guard, leading to crosses with the German Shepherd that produced pure white puppies with the best traits of both. The breed was still widely seen in the 1950s, but a regeneration attempt in the 1970s did not succeed.
