Guernsey Football Club, a community club based in St. Peter Port in the Channel Islands, was founded in 2011. That same year, it joined the Combined Counties Football League Division One, becoming the first side from the Channel Islands to play in mainland British football.
The island’s top domestic league, the FNB Priaulx League, has been run by the Guernsey Football Association since 1893. A Guernsey representative team has also competed in the Muratti trophy since 1905 and in the Island Games since 1991. In June 2011, the Combined Counties League accepted Guernsey into its Division One, at level 10 of the English football pyramid. The club covers travel costs for itself and visiting teams to and from the island. Former England international Matt Le Tissier, born in Guernsey, served as club president until August 2014; his brother Mark held the role until January 2023.
Guernsey played its first match on 16 July 2011. Sky Sports filmed the 2–0 win over Feltham at Footes Lane on 12 November 2011. On 24 March 2012, a 7–1 victory against Bedfont Sports secured the Combined Counties Division One title at the first attempt, earning promotion. The club also reached the Premier Cup final on 30 March, beating Guildford City 4–2 after extra time, and then defeated Colliers Wood United 2–0 after extra time in the final.
The 2012–13 season began with an 8–0 win over Croydon in the Combined Counties Premier Division. Guernsey entered the FA Vase for the first time. Sky Sports returned to Footes Lane for the semi-final first leg against Spennymoor Town on 23 March 2013. To dry the pitch, the club used a helicopter, a method tried in Melbourne 50 years earlier. With 27 games postponed due to cup matches and severe winter weather, Guernsey faced 17 matches in April 2013—23 games in 43 days, including the last four in four days. The team earned promotion for the second consecutive season.
For 2013–14, Guernsey entered the FA Cup under financial conditions eased by the 60Saviours campaign, where 60 individuals or groups pledged support for each FA Cup and FA Trophy game. In the FA Trophy match against Barkingside on 6 October, Ross Allen scored the club’s 350th competitive goal in just 111 games. Guernsey advanced to the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy, losing 1–2 at home to Billericay Town.
