"Frank's Tribute" is the 16th episode of the third season of the American sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond (1996–2005). It aired on February 8, 1999 on CBS, was written by Eric Cohen, and directed by Will Mackenzie. The episode is notable for its exploration of Frank Barone's character and its mix of comedy and drama.
Background
In the episode, Frank Barone is named "Man of the Year" at The Lodge, and his sons Ray and Robert are asked to make a tribute video. They interview lodge members but find no one has anything nice to say about Frank, realizing he was elected out of pity. To spare his feelings, they edit the video to replace the word "Chocolate" with "Frank Barone." Frank becomes angry upon seeing the video, feeling his friends lied to him.
Marie later confronts Frank about his inability to show love, leading to a tense argument. In an unexpected show of tenderness, Frank wipes facial cream off Marie's face, and they reconcile. Ray later feels guilty, but Debra thinks the video was great, noting it made her hungry as she eats a chocolate bar.
