BEAR (Battle Encounter Assault Regiment) is a private military company and one of the main factions of Escape from Tarkov, alongside USEC. It is employed by officials of the Norvinsk region to uncover evidence of TerraGroup's illicit activities.

Lore & Background
BEAR was set up by a secret decree of the Russian government as a countermeasure against TerraGroup's illegal activities on Russian territory, and is made up of former special forces officers from across the former Soviet countries. In the Contract Wars it fought as a Russian government proxy against USEC, TerraGroup's Western security contractor, and also operated outside Russia, in Thailand, Iran and Kazakhstan. BEAR was already a main faction in the predecessors Contract Wars and Hired Ops.
