"Gary's Desk" is the eighth episode of Entourage's fourth season and the 50th episode overall. Ally Musika wrote it, Julian Farino directed it, and it aired on HBO on August 5, 2007. In this installment, Eric works to establish himself as a manager, while Vince, Drama, and Turtle hunt down a pricey desk for his new office. Meanwhile, Ari must resolve a mess at his agency involving his twin secretaries.
Nielsen Media Research reported that roughly 2.61 million households watched the episode, with a 1.5 ratings share among adults aged 18 to 49. Critics generally responded well, though some found the pacing lacking.
The plot finds Eric (Kevin Connolly) setting up a new office to field calls as Vince's manager. Vince (Adrian Grenier), Drama (Kevin Dillon), and Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) decide to gift him an expensive desk once owned by Robert De Niro. Ari (Jeremy Piven) is preparing for a meeting with Mary J. Blige, but his twin secretaries, Jeff and Jim Jensen (Sklar Brothers), are sabotaging other meetings after Jeff slept with Jim's wife. Unable to reconcile them, Ari fires Jeff first, then Jim later after Mary J. Blige drops the agency because she liked Jim. The guys discover Gary Busey has already bought the desk; they’d clashed with him before. Busey agrees to give it up but forces Drama to serve as a painting tool. To cheer him up, the guys get Eric a better office with the new desk, closer to them.
The episode was Musika's second writing credit and Farino's 21st directing credit. For the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards, Farino submitted this episode for consideration in Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.
