Grace (Jim McCann song)
Irish song about Grace Gifford and Joseph Plunkett's 1916 wedding.
Frank O'Meara wrote the melody and Seán O'Meara the lyrics for "Grace," an Irish song from 1985. It tells the true story of Grace Gifford marrying Joseph Plunkett in Kilmainham Jail just before his 1916 execution. Jim McCann released it as a single in 1986, where it hit number 2 on the Irish charts and stayed for 33 weeks. Many artists have covered it, and a European poll selected it for the EU Songbook's love songs category.
