Plot
Gian, Nobita and Suneo discuss going on an adventure during summer vacation. Tired of planning, Suneo and Gian pass the responsibility to Nobita. Nobita asks Doraemon to help, and they launch a rocket from their roof to photograph every small part of Earth. Meanwhile, Nobita's mother Tamako sends him to buy groceries. On the way, he sees a lone dog at the playground, buys sausages, and shares some with it. Back home, Nobita and Doraemon realize the satellite would produce over 930 million photos, so they seek a better way to find an adventure spot. The dog follows Nobita home. Tamako, who does not allow pets, discovers her purse missing. The dog finds the purse by scent from Tamako's slipper, so Nobita is allowed to keep it and names it Peko. Peko finds a photo of a mysterious statue shrouded in fog somewhere in Africa. The group—Nobita, Doraemon, Shizuka, Gian, and Suneo—decides to explore and solve the mystery. After the first day, Gian grows annoyed at the group's overreliance on Doraemon's gadgets, including Shizuka using the Anywhere Door to go home to use the restroom, and angrily calls off the adventure. That night, the mysterious statue visits Gian in his bedroom, tells him about hidden treasure, and disappears. Gian rejoins the group the next day but insists Doraemon leave behind the gadgets used previously. While cruising a river on a ship, Gian forgets to steer while throwing coconuts at crocodiles, causing the ship to crash. The Anywhere Door is burned by people who mistake it for garbage. The group is nearly swarmed by crocodiles but is rescued by natives, who take them to their village. The natives know of the mysterious statue and tell Doraemon they must cross a lion-infested savanna and a very deep gorge.
