Characters

Tom, voiced by Sauvane Delanoë, is the ten-year-old main character and Cindy’s younger brother. He’s clever, spontaneous, and mischievous, with the sharp instincts of a boy who’s had to look after himself from a very early age. His endless imagination and quick thinking let him talk anyone into anything—a handy talent for his scatterbrained family, who keep forgetting they’ve left a world full of magical creatures behind. Cindy, voiced by Kelly Marot, is Tom’s fourteen-year-old sister. She’s stubborn, rebellious, and romantic, convinced a better life is waiting for her. Back in Fairyland, she used to clean the kingdom’s sewers; now in the Real World, she dreams of big projects and an easier existence. Like any teenager, she frets about fitting in at school. She usually finds magic tacky and avoids it, but she’ll use it if it gets her what she wants. Ferocia, voiced by Isabelle Leprince, is Tom and Cindy’s aunt, Willow’s sister, a witch, and an anti-hero—turning into a main villain when she has power. She’s horrible, cruel, wicked, and a genuine pain, but also neutral at times. She loves causing chaos, even in her own family, and gets a kick out of tormenting Gregor and mocking His Highness for his looks. She finds horror movies hilarious. Jojo, voiced by Coco Noël, is Tom’s best friend.

Production

The show’s theme music adapts Queen’s song “A Kind of Magic.” Character designer David Gilson joined the project after a previous artist departed, chosen partly because his drawing style matched creator Arthur de Pins’s. The first season cost €7 million. On 3 November 2015, Xilam confirmed a second season of fifty-two thirteen-minute episodes, set for 2016.
