Jingo (novel)
A submerged island sparks war between Ankh-Morpork and Klatch.
John Clute described it as fitting "seamlessly" into the series and being "better than most" of its predecessors.[1] In "Jingo", Vimes undermines the established order through methods that appear unworkable yet prove effective.[2]

Making and release
The plot involves Vimes investigating crimes against a race previously thought unworthy.[2] The action moves to Klatch, where the story "stumbles a bit" according to the SF Site.[3] Todd Richmond reviewed the novel for the SF Site in 1998.[3]
What the cited sources add
John Clute's 1997 Interzone review compared Pratchett's writing to that of P. G. Wodehouse.[1] The SF Site concluded that despite stumbles, "Jingo" is nonetheless "a fine addition" to the Discworld.[3] Escape Pod's review mentioned that "Snuff" occurs about three years after "Thud", the last City Watch-centric novel before that point.[2] Clute identified "totemic moments" and multiple scenes he considered "homilies".[1]
