Cantonese dim sum of bread triangles with shrimp paste.

Last updated

Shrimp toast, also known as prawn toast, is a Cantonese dim sum dish from Hong Kong. It consists of small bread triangles coated with minced shrimp paste, then baked or deep-fried. The dish is an early form of fusion cuisine, combining prawn paste common in Hong Kong with Western toast. It spread to Japan and Southeast Asia, and a sesame seed variant is common in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Ireland.
