Release history

The RCA Victor soundtrack for Die Hard with a Vengeance hit stores on May 16, 1995, and it remains the only Die Hard album released alongside its film. Instead of a full score, the disc offers seven cues from composer Michael Kamen, plus three songs: "Summer in the City" by the Lovin' Spoonful, "Got It Covered" by Fu-Schnickens, and "In Front of the Kids" by Extra Prolific. Kamen also arranged and included classical pieces by Alexander Mosolov, Brahms, and Beethoven. Later, on December 7, 2012, La-La Land Records put out a complete score album with nearly an hour of music and alternative cues not heard in the movie.

Critical reception

Filmtracks.com commented that a truly satisfying album release of music from Die Hard With a Vengeance had never existed and probably never would. Daevid Jehnzen of AllMusic described the soundtrack as a dynamic, exciting score that accurately conveys the non-stop thrills of the movie. A reviewer from The Ultimate Rabbit noted that while it may lack the exhilarating or emotional sweep of the score for Die Hard 2, Kamen's work is great and highly enjoyable. Simon Brew of Den of Geek called the score a belter. Matt Rooney of JoBlo.com observed that the music does not always go for big and bold, instead providing a tense undercurrent that can evolve into something tragic.
