History

Between the 1930s and 1960s, Mexico City authorities undertook beautification projects placing monuments and fountains influenced by muralism and socialist realism. The chosen subject was Diana, depicted pointing her arrow toward the northern stars rather than hunting animals. The sculpture was created between April and September 1942.
