Lore & Background
Using Dexter's GPS, Lila Tournay finds Sergeant James Doakes imprisoned in a cabin in the Everglades and learns from him that Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher. She decides to help Dexter and kills Doakes by setting the cabin on fire, while Debra weighs her career against her relationship with FBI agent Frank Lundy. The writers said Doakes's death had been planned since the pilot because the character was "too good to not kill". The episode was seen by 1.4 million viewers, was nominated for an Emmy for cinematography, and placed 49th in TV Guide's 100 Greatest TV Episodes.
