Fresco (board game)

A 2010 board game about restoring a cathedral fresco.

Fresco, a 2010 game from Marco Ruskowski and Marcel Süßelbeck, earned a Spiel des Jahres nomination and won the Deutscher Spiele Preis that year. Players are master painters restoring a cathedral ceiling, directing apprentices to buy or mix paints, earn money from portraits, and satisfy the bishop. Low morale can cause apprentices to leave, reducing a player’s options. Letting them sleep late boosts morale and can grant extra actions, but risks letting others buy needed paints or restore fresco sections first. The game offers eleven expansion modules. The base box includes Modules 1–3. A 2010 expansion added Modules 4–6, and a 2013 expansion added Modules 8–10.
