Anthony Carter's time with the Detroit Lions was brief and marked by injury. After 11 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, where he set an NFL playoff record with 143 punt return yards in a 1987 wildcard win and caught ten receptions for a then NFL playoff record 227 yards in a divisional playoff upset, Carter joined the Lions. He played in only four games in 1994, and failed to catch a pass in 1995. His professional career, which began with the Michigan Panthers winning the first USFL championship, ended quietly in Detroit.
