The 1930s Dynasty
The decade of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and the rise of Nazi Germany.
The 1930s was the decade that began on January 1, 1930 and ended on December 31, 1939. It was defined by a global economic and political crisis that culminated in the Second World War.
Lore & Background
The decade saw the collapse of the international financial system, beginning with the Wall Street crash of 1929. The subsequent Great Depression had traumatic social effects worldwide. The Dust Bowl in the United States led to the nickname the 'Dirty Thirties'. U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt introduced the New Deal in response to the crisis. Germany adopted an aggressive foreign policy, remilitarizing the Rhineland, annexing Austria and the Sudetenland, and invading Poland in 1939, starting World War II.
