Stuart

One of the Minions' lead trio, alongside Kevin and Bob.

Stuart is one of the Minions with a major role in the films: with Kevin and Bob he forms the lead trio of Minions (2015) and Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022). When the filmmakers shaped the Minions as individual characters, they designed Kevin as a big-brotherly character and Stuart as an impertinent, lazy teenager.

Lore & Background

In Minions, Kevin, Stuart and Bob set out to find a new boss and are recruited by Scarlet Overkill, a villain they meet at the 1968 Villain-Con convention.

Reader's Guide

Stuart first appeared in Despicable Me (2010) as part of Gru's original team of Minions. He is one of the three Minions who play major roles in the films, alongside Kevin and Bob. Stuart is characterized as an "impertinent, lazy teenager" by the creative team, which influences his behavior throughout the series. He has one eye, unlike Bob who has two eyes, and is slightly shorter than Kevin. In the Minions prequel (2015), Stuart, Kevin, and Bob serve as the main characters, with their individual personalities—Kevin as the big brother, Stuart as the lazy teenager, and Bob as the innocent kid—being emphasized to help audiences differentiate between them. Stuart's rebellious and mischievous nature often leads him to instigate pranks and cause chaos, but he remains a loyal henchman to Gru and participates in the family's adventures across the franchise.
