Gastonia Expos
Montreal Expos affiliate in Gastonia, 1983–1984.
The Gastonia Expos were a Class A minor league baseball team based in Gastonia, North Carolina, that played in the Western Carolinas League in 1983 and 1984 as an affiliate of the Montreal Expos. Their home stadium was Sims Legion Park. The team was part of a longer baseball tradition in Gastonia, which also saw the city host the Gastonia Rangers (1973–1974 and 1987–1992) and later the Gastonia Grizzlies (from 2002) and the Gastonia Honey Hunters. The Expos name was used only for those two seasons before the franchise returned to the Rangers identity in the South Atlantic League.
