Fenris

The bound wolf of prophecy or the escaped slave seeking freedom.

Fenris is a character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Little is known about Hack before he made his appearance on the desolate island of Genosha. He was one of the few survivors after Cassandra Nova programmed her Wild Sentinels to decimate the island, killing over 16 million mutants. Hack becomes a very valuable asset on the island, since all forms of electronic communication were eradicated or made useless by the resulting electro-magnetic damage. Hack lost his powers during the events of "Decimation".

Lore & Background

In established Norse mythology, Fenrir is a giant wolf and the son of Loki, bound by the gods due to prophecies foretelling his role in their demise during Ragnarök. In the Dragon Age universe, Fenris is an elven slave from the Qunari empire who joins the protagonist as a companion, driven by a desire for freedom and revenge against those who enslaved him. Unlike the fictional 'Ancient Wilds' or a non-existent 'Great Schism,' his lore focuses on themes of bondage, identity, and the clash between ancient traditions and personal autonomy.

Reader's Guide

Fenris serves primarily as a lore anchor rather than an active participant in the main narrative arc. His presence is felt through environmental storytelling and references made by NPCs who speak of old gods and beasts.

His powers are described in mythic terms: shapeshifting, primal strength, and immunity to celestial corruption. These abilities mirror the traits seen in wolf-kin characters but on a legendary scale.

Defining moments involving Fenris are often retrospective, revealed through collectibles or deep lore dives rather than direct combat encounters.
