Plot
After surviving the Le Domases' ritual, Grace MacCaullay collapses and is taken to a hospital, where she reunites with her younger sister Faith. The Council, an order of five elite families, prepares to unite at the Danforth complex for another game. Head members include Ursula and Titus Danforth, Wan Chen Xing, Viraj Rajan, Ignacio El Caido, and Bill Wilkinson. Ursula and Titus kill their father Chester so they can take his place. Bill attempts to kill Grace at the hospital but explodes due to failing to wait for the game's commencement. Grace and Faith are kidnapped and brought to the complex, where Le Bail's representative explains that the four remaining families must kill Grace before dawn to acquire the High Seat and a ring of power. Players cannot kill each other; deaths allow the next eldest family member to enter. Grace agrees when Faith's life is threatened. The sisters are handcuffed together on a golf course and kill Viraj in an industrial washing machine. Chen Xing reveals a loophole: if Grace marries a family member, the game ceases, granting her husband the High Seat. Grace refuses, and Chen Xing accidentally kills Ignacio. The Wans explode as Ignacio's daughter Francesca prepares to enter. Faith criticizes Grace's refusal.
Production
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett were developing an original film about sisters for Kathryn Newton and Samara Weaving. When Searchlight Pictures asked them to direct the sequel, they adapted their sister story into the Ready or Not universe. Adam Robitel and Timo Tjahjanto had previously been in talks to direct a possible sequel. On October 12, 2024, Searchlight officially announced the sequel with Radio Silence Productions. Weaving reprised her role, and writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy returned. Newton's role was announced in March 2025. Principal photography began in Toronto on April 21, 2025, with a cast including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elijah Wood, Kevin Durand, David Cronenberg, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, and Olivia Cheng. Filming concluded by June 2, 2025. Sven Faulconer composed the score, released by Hollywood Records on March 18, 2026. Brian Tyler returned to provide original themes and served as score producer. Faulconer's approach used a baroque-meets-slaughter style with viola da gamba. The score features a central cello motif for the satanic theme. The soundtrack includes a cover of The Shirelles's Will You Love Me Tomorrow performed by Brian Fallon and Madi Diaz. Ice Nine Kills made the track Hell or High Slaughter.
