Reader's Guide
On leaving, Hearst puts Cy Tolliver in charge of his "other-than-mining interests". In Deadwood: The Movie he returns as a Senator from California for the statehood celebrations.
He shoots at Alma in the street to goad Ellsworth into violence and, when that fails, has Ellsworth assassinated in his tent on Alma's claim. Trixie shoots Hearst in revenge but only hits his shoulder. Alma is forced to sell him the claim, and he leaves camp soon after, fooled one last time when Al kills Jen, a prostitute resembling Trixie, to save Trixie.
