Alexandria "Lexi" Zahra Jones (born August 15, 2000) is an American artist and singer-songwriter. She is the daughter of English singer-songwriter David Bowie and Somali-born American model Iman.
Jones was born at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She has an older half-brother, film director Duncan Jones (born 1971), from her father’s first marriage to actress Angie Bowie, and an older half-sister, Zulekha Haywood (born 1978), from her mother’s second marriage to former NBA player Spencer Haywood.
Despite her parents’ fame, Jones grew up out of the public eye. Modeling agencies and designers approached her with offers, but her mother Iman turned them down, explaining that she knew the interest stemmed from Jones being David Bowie’s daughter and wanted her to have a private childhood as long as possible. Jones showed an early interest in art, taking classes as a child and focusing more seriously on it in her mid-teens.
At age ten, Jones began experiencing mental health struggles. She started self-harming at 11 and developed bulimia at 12. Following her father’s cancer diagnosis in 2014, she turned to drugs and alcohol as a way to cope. Her parents intervened and sent her to a wilderness therapy program for three months, followed by 13 months at a residential treatment center in Utah. David Bowie died of liver cancer on January 10, 2016, when Jones was 15. She was still at the treatment center; her last conversation with him was two days earlier, on his 69th birthday, when she told him she loved him and he said it back. She returned home at age 16.
In 2018, Jones moved to Los Angeles, working as a photographer and fashion designer. She launched a website to sell her artwork in May 2023, and later that year released her first clothing line under the slogan “ALXX.” Her first song came out in early 2021. On April 2, 2025, she independently released her debut album, *Xandri*, without any advertising. Jones wrote, produced, and performed all 12 tracks, and created the cover art. The album blends pop, electronic, and indie rock, and received positive reviews.
