Anna-Teodora
Bulgarian princess, daughter of Ivan Asen II and Irene Komnene.
Anna-Teodora is a conventional designation for a daughter of Emperor Ivan Asen II of Bulgaria and his third wife Irene Komnene, born between 1238 and 1241. The name conflates two separate mentions by the historian George Akropolites, who lists the couple's children as Michael, Theodora, and Maria in one passage and Michael, Maria, and Anna in another. Modern scholarship, following Ivan Božilov, identifies Anna and Theodora as the same person, though the hyphenated form has created a misleading impression of a double name. Her marriage is uncertain: she may have been the wife of sebastokrator Peter or of the future emperor Mitso Asen.
