The Blacksmith is a building in the Hamlet of Darkest Dungeon whose purpose is to increase the stats of your heroes by giving them better armor and weapons.

Background
Three areas of the Blacksmith can be improved: Weaponsmithing lets the Blacksmith upgrade weapons, increasing a hero's damage, critical chance and speed; Armorsmithing upgrades armor, increasing a hero's maximum HP and dodge; and the Furnace reduces the cost of armor and weapon smithing. Heroes can only upgrade their equipment at certain resolve levels – Weaponsmithing levels 1 to 4 allow weapons to be upgraded up to rank 2, 3, 4 and 5, with heroes needing resolve level 1, 2, 3 and 5 respectively to buy them.
