Played from a third-person perspective, The Blood of Dawnwalker is an action role-playing game set in a dark fantasy world with a vampire theme.[1] Coen, the character controlled by the player, is a Dawnwalker possessing both human and vampiric traits, and he must rescue his family within a span of 30 days and nights.[1][2] Completing the game requires roughly 50 to 70 hours, and players can choose from four different difficulty settings.[3]

Making and release

Various retail versions are offered, including a standard edition, an "Eclipse Edition," and a limited collector's edition.[4] After negative feedback about a 40 FPS cap, Rebel Wolves announced a day one patch enabling 60 FPS on consoles except Xbox Series S.[5] Rebel Wolves plans for this title to be the initial entry in a series sharing its name, and they characterize it as a dark fantasy "narrative sandbox".[6] Unreal Engine 5 is the technology being used to develop the game.[6]

On 14 January 2025, the initial trailer for the game was made public.[4]

Brencis, an ancient vampire, seizes control and promises citizens a cure in exchange for a "blood tax".[7] Coen becomes a Dawnwalker after a failed attempt by Brencis to turn him into a henchman.[8] A plague is devastating the kingdom, prompting the king to issue a command that all those infected must be put to death.[7] Brencis takes Coen's family captive, intending for them to be sacrificed at a ceremony that is set to occur one month later.[8][2]

According to Metacritic, the game garnered "generally favorable" reviews, and OpenCritic reported that 93 percent of critics gave it a recommendation.[9]
