Okarun Alien Form
A high schooler possessed by a spirit, using that power alongside Momo's psychic abilities to fight supernatural threats.
Ken Takakura, whom Momo Ayase nicknames "Okarun", becomes possessed by a spirit after visiting a location associated with the occult. Together with Momo's latent psychic abilities, they use his possessed form to defeat a group of aliens who had abducted Momo. This empowered state transforms the timid high school student into a formidable close-quarters combatant, relying on the supernatural energy of the possessing spirit to fight yōkai and aliens throughout the series.
Lore & Background
Okarun's possessed form first manifests when he is possessed by a spirit after visiting an occult location as part of a bet with Momo Ayase. Momo, who believes in ghosts but not aliens, had been abducted by aliens who accidentally unblocked her chakras, granting her latent psychic abilities. Together, Momo uses her newfound powers to help Okarun control his possessed form, allowing them to defeat the aliens. This partnership defines their ongoing alliance as they combat both yōkai and extraterrestrial beings throughout the story. A central plot point early in the series involves Okarun's quest to retrieve his missing testicles (kintama), which drives much of the initial conflict.
Reader's Guide
Okarun's possessed form is a direct result of a spirit taking residence in his body after his visit to an occult location. This form grants him supernatural abilities that, when combined with Momo's psychic powers (awakened when aliens unblocked her chakras), allow them to defeat alien threats. The possessed form is not a permanent transformation but a state that can be activated when needed, with Momo's abilities helping to control it. The series follows their ongoing battles against yōkai and aliens, with Okarun's quest to retrieve his missing testicles serving as an early central plot. Later, the story shifts focus to Momo when she becomes afflicted by a curse that diminishes her physical size and erases her presence from those around her, driving the latter half of the plot as the characters work to undo the curse.
