The cup-headed hero of Studio MDHR's 2017 run and gun game, who gambles his soul away to the Devil.
Cuphead is the title character of Cuphead, the 2017 run and gun game developed and published by Studio MDHR. He and his brother Mugman live on Inkwell Isle under the watch of Elder Kettle. After losing to the Devil at his casino, the brothers agree to collect the soul contracts of the Devil's runaway debtors. Up to two players can control Cuphead or Mugman through the game's levels and boss fights.

Background
Ignoring Elder Kettle's warnings, the brothers wander into the Devil's Casino and start playing craps. On a winning streak the Devil offers Cuphead the whole casino on one roll against their souls, and Cuphead loses with snake eyes. The Devil then offers to spare them if they bring back his runaway debtors' contracts by midnight the next day, and Elder Kettle gives the brothers a potion that lets them shoot energy blasts from their fingers. After beating King Dice, they can hand the contracts over and become the Devil's lackeys, or refuse, defeat the Devil, burn the contracts and return home as heroes.
