Background
The project originated when Dave Mitchell of Oneiros Books asked Alan Moore to contribute to The Starry Wisdom, a collection of new writings inspired by H. P. Lovecraft. Moore conceived an entire book titled Yuggoth Cultures, based on Lovecraft's Fungi From Yuggoth cycle of poems. Most of the pieces he wrote for the book were lost when the only copies were left in a London taxi cab. Moore submitted a short story, "The Courtyard," for The Starry Wisdom and suspended work on Yuggoth Cultures.
Spin-offs
Antony Johnston and Max Fiumara turned the Nightjar story into a four-issue miniseries and a one-shot called Nightjar: Hollow Bones. Johnston later wrote more Cthulhu Mythos stories for Avatar as Yuggoth Creatures. The collection Alan Moore's Yuggoth Cultures and Other Growths includes all three issues.
