Cadmus of Miletus

Ancient logographus of disputed historicity, possibly mythical.

Last updated

Cadmus of Miletus (Ancient Greek: Κάδμος ὁ Μιλήσιος) is a figure from ancient Greek historiography, regarded by some ancient authorities as the oldest of the logographi. Scholars are divided: some assign him to about 550 BC, while others consider him purely mythical. The Suda mentions three persons of this name, but the historical record is confused and uncertain.
